Apodidae – swifts+

The Apodidae – Swifts+ are a family of smallish fast flying species that spend a large amount of time on the wing and hence are of Type – aerial and belong to the Family Apodidae and the Order Apodiformes. At the moment swifts and swiftlets are the English named sub-families. However the Order Apodiformes has recently been included into the Caprimulgiformes and the name Apodiformes has been retired, but websites are yet to make the necessary revisions, so confusion will last for a long time.

Apodidae - Swifts+ contains the following categories...
                                 Palm-swifts
                                 Spinetails
                                 Swiftlets
                                 Swifts
                                 Swifts+
