The Bar-tailed godwit – Limosa lapponica is a large wader of the family Scolopacidae. It is a High Arctic breeder across Eurasia into Alaska. It migrates S in the winter to mostly Tropical Coastlines. In the AWB Region it is a winter visitor to the coasts of Arabia and the Arabian Gulf, the Atlantic coasts of NW Africa from S Mali to Gibraltar. the N coast of Algeria and NW Tunisia, NE Egypt and the S Red Sea coast from S Sudan to the Horn of Africa and an isolated inland wintering area in SE Niger and SW Chad.
