The Collared pratincole – Glareola pratincola is a medium sized Old World species of Type – wader of the family Glareolidae and the Order Charadriiformes. It is found in Africa, S Europe, the Middle East and SW Central Asia. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to parts of W and S Turkey, Azerbaijan, the S coasts of the Caspian Sea, Palestine, N Egypt and coastal Maghreb states. In the Sahel states it is both resident and a winter visitor in suitable habitats. It resident in Eritrea, Djibouti, W Somaliland and S Somalia.
