Corn crake

The Corn crake – Crex crex is a medium sized species of rail of Type – marshfowl, Family Rallidae and Order Gruiformes. It has a very extensive Breeding Range from W Europe to E Asia, and migrates to winter in southern Africa. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder in the S Caucasus, elsewhere it is occasionally encountered on passage. It has declined rapidly due to changing harvesting practices destroying nests before nesting is completed.
