European stonechat – Saxicola rubicola – is a migratory/resident W Palearctic chat of Type – sallyer, Family Muscicapidae and Order Passeriformes. It has an extensive range over the Temperate and warmer areas of the W Palearctic, where it is migratory in the N and S and resident in the middle. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to NW and N Central Turkey, and is resident in SW and S Central Turkey. It is also resident along the N Coastal areas of the Maghreb states, where just to the S as it extends into the the desert it becomes a winter visitor. From SE Tunisia it becomes a winter visitor along the coastal strip to Sinai. It is also a winter visitor to Cyprus.
