Greater sand-plover

The Greater sand-plover – Charadrius leschenaultii is small/medium sized species of Type – Wader of the family Charadriidae and Order Charadriiformes. It is a summer breeder in S Central Asia and migrates widely to coastlines of Africa, India, SE Asia and Australia. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder in Azerbaijan, NE and NW Iran, S Central Turkey and a small area in N Jordan. It is a winter visitor to S Iraq, Kuwait, Palestine and Sinai coastal areas, also along the coastal strips of N Africa from SE Tunisia to S Somalia.

Type - wader - nest a scrape in the bare ground,
Summer Habitat - semi-deserts, 
Winter Habitat - Sandy coastlines bordering the Indian Ocean and Ausralasia,
