The Greater white-fronted goose (Anser albifrons) is a large goose and is named after the patch of white feathers on its forehead at the base of its bill. They breed across the Arctic coasts of Russia and North America, with an isolated area on the central West Coast of Greenland. They are strongly migratory in the winter down to temperate regions of Europe and almost tropical areas of Asia and North and Central America. In the AWB Region their main wintering grounds are in the southern Euphrates valley in Iraq.
