The Jack snipe – Lymnocryptes minimus is a small migratory wader of the family Scolopacidae. It has a very wide summer breeding range across northern Eurasia and in winter has an equally extensive winter range from Temperate W Europe to the Tropics in Africa, S and SE Asia. In the AWB Region it winters in Azerbaijan, N Iran, W and Central Turkey, S Iraq, E Saudi Arabia, W UAE and Palestine. In Africa, it winters in NW Morocco, Tunisia, Coastal W and E Libya and N Egypt but the main areas are in the Sahel states across Africa.
