The Marsh sandpiper – Tringa stagnatilis is a small Palearctic migratory wader of the family Scolopacidae. It is a summer breeder to the wetlands of the Steppe and Taiga Regions of Eurasia. In winter it migrates to the Tropics, Africa and Australia. In the AWB Region it winters in SE and W Iran, around the head of the Arabian Gulf, Central Iraq, E coast UAE, N Oman, Sinai and Palestine. In Africa it winters along coastal Mauritania and the coastal Maghreb states, the Nile Valley. The main wintering area is in the Sahel states from Central Mali to coastal Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti down to S Somalia.
