Masked Shrike – Lanius nubicus – is the smallest of the Shrikes, and is a migratory species of Type sallyer, Family Laniidae and Order Passeriformes. It is summer breeder to the northern Middle East and the extreme SE of Europe, and it winters across the s s Sahel Belt. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to the W and S coasts of Turkey, Cyprus and the Levant. There is a separate population to a long narrow area from SE Turkey, NE Syria, E Iraq to SW and W Iran. As noted above it winters over the Sahel Belt to the Red Sea regions of Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somaliland and also the Red Sea coastal areas of Yemen.
