Woodchat shrike – Lanius senator – is a Eurasian migratory species of Type – sallyer, Family Laniidae and Order Passeriformes. It migrates in winter to s s Africa, N of the Equator. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to Turkey, Cyprus, the Levant, the S Caucasus, Iran, Iraq, coastal Maghreb states and coastal Libya. It is found on Passage over the Sahara and winters in the Sahel belt and beyond.

Summer Habitat - open cultivated land, with trees, orchards and bare sandy patches, 
Winter Habitat - Sahel Belt into more wooded Tropical areas,
