The Red-necked nightjar – Caprimulgus ruficollis – is a large nightjar of Type – crepuscular, Family Caprimulgidae and Order Caprimulgiformes. It is a summer breeder to the Iberian peninsular and the northern Maghreb states and winters in West Africa. In the AWB Region, as noted above it is a breeding summer migrant to the northern coastal areas of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia and it winters in SW Western Sahara, S Mauritania and S Mali.
