Rufous-tailed rock-thrush – Monticola saxatilis – or Common rock-thrush is a large migratory Eurasian chat of Type – sallyer, Family Muscicapidae and Order Passeriformes. It is an extensive summer breeder from Iberia to Mongolia, and winters in Africa. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to Turkey, the S Caucasus, Iran, Central Levant and the Maghreb states, however in Morocco its status is uncertain. There are some small isolated wintering areas in the deserts of Algeria, Chad and Sudan, and one in the Sahel area of Mali. But the main wintering area is in the Sahel area of Chad, Sudan, Eritrea, and on into E Africa.

Type - sallyer - nests in cavities, on rocky mountain slopes,
Summer Habitat - rocky open hills and mountains, 
Winter Habitat - also at lower elevations, and open lightly wooded areas
