Tawny pipit – Anthus campestris – is a medium-sized migratory Eurasian passerine of Type – insectivore, Family Motacillidae and Order Passeriformes. It is found in the lower latitudes of Europe, E to W Mongolia and it winters S to SW Asia, S Arabia and s s Africa. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to Turkey, Syria, S Caucasus, N Iran, and to small areas in N Iraq and the Levant. In Africa it breeds across the N Maghreb states. The main wintering areas are in S Arabia and across the Sahel Belt states plus Eritrea, Djibouti and Somaliland. There are are also small isolated areas in SE Iran, central Iraq, Sinai, N Egypt, and S Algeria.
