The Common ringed plover – Charadrius hiaticula is a small species of Type – Wader of the family Charadriidae and the Order Charadriiformes. It is a cosmopolitan Eurasian species breeding in the High Arctic from the coasts of Greenland to the Bering Straights and migrates to winter in Africa, the Middle East and India. In the AWB Region it winters around the shores of the S Caspian Sea, Cyprus, S Turkey, S Iran and the main river valleys of Iraq and all the coastal regions of Arabia. Also it winters along all the coastal regions of N Africa and S Mauritania, S Mali, S Niger, S Chad, and S Sudan.
