Demoiselle crane

The Demoiselle crane – Anthropoides virgo is the smallest of the cranes, it is of Type – wadingbird, Family Gruidae and Order Gruiformes. It has a very wide Asiatic Breeding range from SE Ukraine to E Mongolia and has two separate wintering ranges in India and Africa. In the AWB Region there is an isolated Breeding area in E Turkey and a non-Breeding range in southern Sudan and E Chad. There is noticeable Passage across Turkey, The South Caucasus and N Iran, The Levant and the Nile Valley.

Summer Habitat - wide open areas near water, steppes, plains, fields, 
Winter Habitat - also deserts and drier areas,
