The Gruidae – cranes+ are a family of large to very large species of Type – wadingbird and belong in the Order Gruiformes. Within the AWB Region there is only the single sub-family the Cranes that are present. The definition of the Type – wadingbird is given below.

Type - wadingbird,
is a fairly large to large bird, with long legs and long neck, that inhabits damp or wet habitats at least some of the time.
