The Dromadidae – crab-plovers is a bird family closely related to other more typical waders and is part of the Order Charadriiformes. It has only one member of the Genus Domas, the species more commonly known as the Crab-plover. It nests in colonies and forms its nest in a burrow built into a sandy bank, uniquely among waders it allows the the ground temperature to incubate the eggs, both parents look after the young.
