Pygmy cormorant – Microcarbo pygmaeus – it is a small resident/migratory Eurasian cormorant of Type – seabird, Family Phalacrocoracidae and Order Suliformes. It is native to SE Europe and SW Asia, in a complex pattern of widely separated areas of summer breeding, wintering and resident areas, see the link – Sounds & Maps – below. In the AWB Region it is found in Turkey, S Caucasus, Iran, Iraq, S Levant, Kuwait and Cyprus, and is largely freshwater orientated.
