Red-tailed shrike – Lanius phoenicuroides – or Turkestan shrike is a migratory Asian species of Type – sallyer, Family Laniidae and Order Passeriformes. It is a summer breeder from Central Asia to Iran, which migrates to northern Africa and SW Arabia in the winter. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder to Iran, and a winter visitor to all the Sahel states (including areas of the Sahara) Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, SW KSA, Yemen, Socotra and Dhofar.

Summer Habitat - open arable land with scattered thorn bushes, 
Winter Habitat -  dry open areas, with scrubby, shrubby patches and scattered bushes, lightly wooded mountains,
