Red-wattled lapwing

The Red-wattled lapwing – Vanellus indicus is a large species of Type – Wader of the family Charadriidae and the Order Charadriiformes. It resident across a wide range of SW and southern Asia but has more recently extended its range to N UAE and N and NE Oman. Further in the AWB Region it is resident along the Eastern border of Iran, S and SW Iran bordering into E and SE Iraq.

Type - wader - continuously wary day and night, very noisy when disturbed,
Habitat - wetlands, particularly in grassy open country or well watered agricultural lands,
