The White-cheeked tern – Sterna repressa is a medium sized subtropical tern of Type-seabird, of the family Laridae and the Order Charadriiformes. It is found around the coastal waters of Arabia, E Africa and W India. In the AWB Region it is a summer breeder on the E coast of the Red Sea, The Arabian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Sea and an isolated breeding area near Goa. It has a resident population along the African coast of the Red Sea from N Egypt to S Somalia and N Kenya. Outside of the breeding season it is found offshore in the Gulf of Oman and offshore the full W Coast of India.

Type - seabird - breeds in small colonies, nests on bare ground, above the high-water mark,
Summer Habitat - coasts of the Arabian Peninsular and Arabian Gulf, inshore waters,
                               coral islands, sandy or rocky beaches,
Winter Habitat - coastal marine waters from Hormuz to S India,
Resident Habitat - the Eastern coast of Africa from Sinai to Kenya,
