The Green-winged teal (Anas crecca) name has recently been adopted for the Eurasian Teal of the Old World to combine it with the American species which traditionally have always been treat as separate species. Since they have now been combined into one Holarctic species that is now the new English name for the combined species. However there is now a lot of confusion with many websites still referring to the old separate names and Old and New world as separate species, please note that this confusion is likely to carry on for some time until the sites are all updated. Because the AWB Region is Old World, Eurasian Teal sites are used where necessary.
